Our Story
Founded on April 17, 2026 by Okweya Travor, NGA Lab Africa — the Next-Gen Agroecology Lab — is a youth-led initiative based in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicated to transforming how young people engage with sustainable food systems.
We believe that youth are not just the future of agriculture — they are the present. By breaking systemic barriers and creating pathways for innovation, research, and real participation, we are building an Africa where young people lead the agroecological transformation.

The Challenge
Why Youth Are Locked Out
Land Access
Land is controlled by older generations. Rising costs and fragmentation reduce availability; urban youth face near-zero access.
Limited Finance
Without land as collateral, loans are almost impossible to secure. Youth programs rarely support innovative agroecological practices.
Knowledge Gap
Research institutions exist but outputs are disconnected from practical knowledge youth actually need.
Excluded from Decisions
Youth involvement is symbolic, with little real influence on policies that affect their futures.
Perception & Alternatives
Agroecology is seen as labor-intensive with slow returns, pushing youth toward quick-money alternatives.
